How Can I Afford to Straighten My Teeth?

Ready for that perfect smile but not sure how to fit treatment into your budget? There are so many options available to help make orthodontic treatment accessible and affordable for you and your family. One option is to use a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to finance your treatment. These accounts allow you to use pre-tax dollars toward health care expenses such as orthodontics. Using pre-tax dollars can save you more than $600 a year on orthodontic treatment! If used in conjunction with orthodontic insurance, you could see your out of pocket expenses greatly reduced.

Call us today to talk with us about treatment options so that you can set up your FSA/HSA and utilize this tax free benefit.

When Should My Child See the Orthodontist?

first-ortho-visit

I’m often asked, “when does my child need to see an orthodontist?” The American Association of Orthodontists recommends being evaluated at 7 years old, and most likely you are wondering why, since the child still has so many baby teeth. Seeing an orthodontist at 7 does not mean your child will need braces in second grade or even in the future. An early evaluation is a great benefit to both you and your child. At your child’s initial evaluation, we will be able to see if your child has missing teeth, teeth not erupting properly, too little or too much space for the permanent teeth, or problems with the way the teeth fit together.

For the vast majority of children, no treatment is indicated at this age and our doctors will let you know if treatment will be needed in the future. Then your child will be seen briefly every six months to monitor the eruption and development of his/her teeth. These are complimentary appointments and a great opportunity for you to get all of your dental questions answered. And did I mention we have free ice cream?

Make your evaluation appointment today!  We can’t wait to see you!

Smiling Makes You Live Longer

live-longerDid you know smiling can actually make you live longer? Isn’t that amazing?! Not only does our smile make us more attractive and approachable, but it actually has long term effects on our health.

A recent study from Wayne State University in Michigan looked at pictures of 230 baseball players from 1952. Smiling players lived on average EIGHT years longer than their more stoic counterparts. Another study out of the London University College found that happy, cheerful people were 35% more likely to live longer.

Who know the fountain of youth was in your smile!

How does this work? Smiling appears to decrease your blood pressure and heart rate while simultaneously decreasing cortisol levels (aka STRESS)! You can actually trick your body into thinking you are happy and relaxed by planting a big smile on your face.

Looks like there may be some truth to the old saying “Grin and Bear it!”

Don’t let an issue with your teeth keep you from smiling. Let us show you your personalized options. The path to your perfect smile is easier and faster than you think. Call us today for your FREE consultation.
